The exhibition I SEE EUROPE ! presents 35 positions of photographers taking their personal look at 'Europe as lived' and turning their observations into a multi-facetted photo essay. It is part of European Prospects a two year collaborative project involving partners from Wales, Germany, Lithuania and France: Ffotogallery Wales, Cardiff, Fotosommer Stuttgart, the Lithuanian Photographers Association, Kaunas Department and Photographie Au Château d’Eau, Toulouse.

The project offers a new space for European artists and cultural agents to share experience and practice in conferences, residencies and exhibitions, they achieve wider exposure in Europe for their work.

The conference will focus on the issue what it means 'to be European' no matter if living in centres or in the periphery. It raises questions about visual convergence in an increasingly mobile society, about how to be visible in Europe's art-world, about contemporaneity of diverse lifestyles and mentalities.

Die Ausstellung I SEE EUROPE ! präsentiert in 35 Positionen die persönlichen Sichtweisen von Fotografen als vielschichtigen Essay über das 'gelebte Europa' der Gegenwart. Sie ist Teil des zweijährigen gemeinschaftlichen Projekts European Prospects, an dem Partner aus Wales, Deutschland, Litauen und Frankreich beteiligt sind: Ffotogallery Wales, Cardiff, Fotosommer Stuttgart, the Lithuanian Photographers Association, Kaunas Department und Photographie Au Château d’Eau, Toulouse.

Das Projekt European Prospects eröffnet für europäische Künstler neue Möglichkeiten zum Erfahrungsaustausch in Konferenzen, ermöglicht Studien- und Arbeitsaufenthalte sowie Präsentationen in Ausstellungen in den beteiligten Ländern, durch die die Künstler in Europa eine höhere Aufmerksamkeit für Ihre Arbeiten erlangen.

Wie kann mit Gleichzeitigkeit und Verschiedenheit von Lebensstilen und Mentalitäten in Europa umgegangen werden? Nähern sich die Bildwelten in einer immer mobiler werdenden Gesellschaft an?
