The photography book The Beautiful Cliché - Venezia will be released worldwide March 2012 with preface by Renata Codello, Superintendent for the Cultural Heritage and Landscape of Venice and the Lagoon, and texts by curator and photo historian, Italo Zannier, and curator, Chiara Casarin.

Renato D'Agostin was born in Venice, Italy in 1983. He began his career in photography in 2001. In 2005, D’Agostin attended International Center of Photography in New York for courses in Fine Print. Soon after, he became assistant to Ralph Gibson. D’Agostin presented the exhibitions Metropolis (2007) and Tokyo Untitled (2009) in major galleries in The United States, Europe and Japan. He is represented by Bonni Benrubi Gallery, New York, Photo 4 Charles Zalber, Paris, and MC2 Gallery, Milan.

(…) Renato D’Agostin transcende toutefois toute cette iconographie et il étonne – s’il est encore possible de s’étonner des inventions imagées des photographes – avec une lecture de la ville par détails oniriques, par signes mystérieux qui ne veulent pas décrire, mais suggérer des atmosphères, des présences mystérieuses, décollées par la fumée invisible de la ville, ce brouillard permanent qui monte de la lagune vers ses habitants, et dans son livre ceux-ci n’ont pas de visage et ils apparaissent – quand ils sont là – comme des fantômes, confondus avec un duc-d’Albe ou avec la silhouette d'un pigeon
survivant.
Italo Zannier

Renato d'Agostin, né en 1983, a Venise. L'atmosphère magique de la ville a cultivé sa vision de la photographie et développé sa curiosité pour capturer des instants de vie avec son appareil. Afin d'explorer au mieux cette passion, il part en 2002 à la découverte des capitales de l'Europe de l'ouest, et reste fasciné par la ville de Paris.
Revenu en Italie, il se rend à Milan et suit des cours à l' Istituto Italiano di Fotografia et commence alors sa collaboration avec le studio Sabbatini. En 2005 il suit les cours de tirage au centre international de la photographie à New York. En 2006 il devient assistant de Ralph Gibson à New York. En 2007, exposition personnelle à New York dans la prestigieuse LEICA GALLERY à Broadway, intitulée Metropolis . S'en suivront d'autres expositions aux USA et en Europe. En 2008 collaboration avec la journaliste Olivia Fincato et publication de l'ouvrage Un giorno con Lucia qui est présenté à l'Institut Culturel Italien de New York ainsi qu'au Centre Primo Levi. En 2009 est publié son troisième livre Tokyo Untitled , expositions en Europe et aux Etats-Unis. En 2011 sort The Beautiful Cliché - Venezia.
