...And once whilst breaking through the layers of understanding during the immersion into the essential i recognised myself and the world, as if through a mirror and the rest, rest, rest... V. Nabokov Alexandra Catiere. «ММХ». 29 June – 30 August. Alexandra Catiere was born in 1978 in Minsk, Belarus. She fell in love with photograhy while studying at Minsk state linguistic university. In 2003, under the influence of her art guru, famous soviet artist Yuriy Kuper, she moved to New York where she completed a certificate program at the International Center of Photography. After graduating from ICP, she worked for a year in the studio of an internationally renowned photographer Irving Penn. In 2005 Alexandra Catiere was included in the list of 20 most promising emerging photographers of New York and became a participant of Art & Commerce, a traveling exhibition of emerging photographers that began its journey in D.U.M.B.O., NYC. Two years later Catiere was named an emerging star of international photography scene according to the important photography magazine American Photo. Alexandra has been participating in international photographic festivals in France, Japan, Italy, she has also been selected to be in DESCUBRIMIENTOS PhotoEspana 2006, Madrid. In 2006 she received a “Silver Camera” award of Moscow House of Photography in the nomination “Faces”. Apart from art photography Alexandra has been working as a fashion photographer. She is constantly working with The New Yorker, The New York Times, Le Monde, Dazed&Confused, Gentelwoman, American Photo, Crash. Alexandra Catiere lives and works in Paris. The idea of the first solo show of Alexandra Catiere in Russia, which Pobeda gallery presents as a part of 2nd Moscow International Biennale of young art, is an overview of the last ten years of the photographers work. The title of the exhibition “MMX” – is a symbol of the year 2010 according to the ancient roman calendar. «Everything that has happened in history, with our country, on our earth and in our families-one, two, hundreds and even thousands of years ago-has never gone away. It remains with us all, as a certain conglomerate of images and sensations. Time and boarders are absent there, for it remains as a uniform mass that is transformed within our minds, within our hearts, through all of the creases and crevices of our bodies, as it tries to get outside-demanding its form once again. When I take pictures-I’m reminiscing.. .» Alexandra Catiere Shows: 2010 &160;"MMX", POBEDA Gallery, Moscow, solo show 2009 &160;"Fragments", photo installation at PARIS PHOTO with the Gallery Pobeda, Moscow 2009 &160;"I cannot give you anything but love,” Miyako Yoshinaga Gallery, New York, solo show, USA 2009 &160;Photo installation at SLICK with the gallery Lacen, Paris, France 2009 &160;“I cannot give you anything but love”, Rome Festival of Photography, Italy &160; 2009 &160;New in Contemporary Photography, Flanders Gallery, group show, NC, USA 2009 &160;50 women photographers, MiCamera Gallery, group show, Milan, ITALY 2008 &160;Randall Scott Gallery, 8 photographers, Washington, D.C., USA 2008 &160;International Festival of Photography in Rome, group show, ITALY 2008 &160;International Festival of Photography in Lille, group show, FRANCE 2008 &160;Russian Soul, OTTO ZOO Gallery, MILAN, two-artists show, ITALY 2007 &160;HYERES Festival of Fashion and Photography, selected photographer, group show, includes publication, FRANCE 2006 &160;“SILVER CAMERA”, Festival of Photography in MOSCOW, first prize in the nomination “Faces”, RUSSIA 2006 &160;ART+COMMERCE, Festival of Emerging Photographers, includes publication, NEW YORK, a traveling exhibition in Tokyo, Milan, Stockholm, Madrid 2005 &160;International Center of Photography, graduation group show, NEW YORK
