The International Contemporary Art Fair For Photo-Based Art, Video & New Media artfairs inc. is pleased to announce the premiere of photo MIAMI - the International Contemporary Fair of Photo-Based Art, Video and New Media which will be held December 7 - 10, 2006 during Art Basel Miami Beach. This new contender adds to the contemporary art fairs by presenting 50 international galleries exhibiting the most exciting photo-based art including, conceptual, video, digital and mixed media artwork. photo MIAMI crosses boundaries between photography and video, highlighting the medium's complexity within contemporary art making. The fair will present a special "Invitational Preview" section of curated projects of emerging international collectives and galleries redrawing the boundaries of technology, photography, and contemporary art making. Madrid-based curator Paco Barragán and Miami-based Nina Arias will both curate specific projects for the fair. The fair will also feature a curated video lounge, major photographic book publishers and an artists lecture series, including Enrique Martinez Celaya. An opening night reception will be benefit Legal Art, a Miami based not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing artists with affordable legal services, unique events and educational opportunities.
