Resident in New York since 1982, Adam Fuss was born in London in 1961. From there he moved to Australia where he studied photography, while he worked in a studio as assistant to a commercial photographer. As he arrived to New York, he worked as a photographer documenting art exhibitions. After that he gained fame by his innovative and peculiar art, made by very simple photographic techniques, following the path of pioneers and great masters of photography like Henry Fox-Talbot, Lászlo Molí-Nagy and Man Ray. But his exploration in the process of daguerrotypes, platynum copies and stills, for example, is not the result of a fascination for the technology of the past, but a wish to compose with passion his own work’s conception. Using organic materials such as plants, flowers, sunflowers, animal guts, and joining them with pendulums, smoke and laces, the result is a contemporary art language full of a rare beauty and mystery. Nowadays, his works are in public and private collections throughout the world. We exhibit his recent series "Crysalis", undoubtly the ultimate symbol of impending rebirth. This series appears in Adam Fuss photography book "What is a Man", dedicated to the zen teacher William Segal.
