›Fiction: truth in photography and painting‹
The exhibition presents an alternative artistic attitude to photographic truth versus painted illusions. Until recently, discussions of photography and paintings have inhabited two different worlds, with conversations on photography invariably dominated by reference to the Düsseldorf school exemplified by the Bechers, Struth, Ruff, Höfer etc. The works in this exhibition discuss a contrasting attitude; the realisation that truthful records of places or events are impossible in any medium. The boundaries between painting and photography therefore become meaningless.
